title pic Lavender, Fringe, and Bandeau: Cool Picks for the Hot Summer!

Posted by Katie on March 8, 2012

lavender fringe bikiniWe’re all anxiously awaiting trips to the beach and lavish pool parties, and they’re finally in the near future! Each summer, bathing suit trends change slightly based on the fashion gods and what they choose to grace us with. This year the color is lavender, while style is all about the bandeau and fringe. Luckily, this shade and bathing suit style is super flattering and we’ll tell you why:

Why choose a bandeau top? A bandeau top bathing suit flatters a small bust. This simple, yet attractive top looks very sexy on since it sits right across the chest, yet the fringe layer adds dimension to the bust. It leaves the shoulders bare and the collar bone exposed for that sexy, summer day at the beach.

Why lavender? This shade is feminine and romantic. It complements both pale and tan skin which makes it a versatile color exuding elegance.

What’s with the fringe? You usually see this embellishment on bohemian bags and outfits, but why not step out of your comfort zone and embrace the edgy trend. Fringe bathing suits create fun movement and allow you to add a true touch of fashion to this year’s bathing suit.

Be adventurous this summer and get a bathing suit that will flatter your body type, as well as have you looking ready for the runway!

When we’re shopping for bras and panties that we don’t want showing through our favorite white tops and pants, it’s important to look for pieces that are closest to our own natural skin tone. Most of us have learned long ago – usually, the hard way! – that while it may seem white undergarments are best when wearing white, that is simply not the case.

However, swimsuits are another animal entirely. We aren’t trying to hide our swimsuits; we want the whole world to see how pretty and perfect they (and we!) are. Many of us lean toward bright, bold colors that make an unmistakable impact, which is certainly fun to do and encouraged by all at Elite Fashion Swimwear! But sometimes less can be more, and softer, more natural shades can bring an allure all their own. If you want to try on a more muted, skin tone shade for size, there are 2 easy ways to make the marvelous most of it. You can opt for a shade that is close to your own skin tone, which will blend with your natural coloring, or you can choose a ‘skin tone color’ that is different from your own, whether darker or lighter. Either way, the effect is sure to be enchanting, elegant, and just plain pretty! Let’s take a look at a few of our favorite designer swimsuits in fabulous, flesh tone shades…

L Space Nude Bikini – With a striking gold chain link detailing at the halter straps and hips, this classic ‘nude’ shade would look stunning on ladies with darker skin tones and lighter skin tones alike!

Caffe Swimwear Gold Bikini – To be fair, there aren’t too many gold people walking around, not that we’ve seen, anyway! But this softened gold shade accented with true gold touches has a skin tone quality about it. For lighter skinned ladies with pink undertones, the gold can add a generous dose of warmth. And for tanned skin and darker tones, it can work with the warmth you’ve already got going on to leave you glowing!

Rebecca Swimwear Brown Monokini – Was there ever a more beautiful brown? Not quite chocolate but oh-so-close, the deep plunging neckline meets a golden butterfly just below the waist, which cinches a hip-hugging belt of ruched fabric that fits and flatters and flutters, oh my! Not for the shy, this richly-hued monokini features a full open back and sides.

Are you counting down the days to an upcoming cruise or trip to somewhere more tropical? Or perhaps your getaway plans will have you seeing snow, but a hot tub or swimming pool will be present as well? Wherever your vacation destination, chances are good that packing along a bikini, monokini, swimsuit or two is in order! But which to choose?

If anyone has a tricky time deciding which designer swimsuits to make a part of their personal collections, it’s the ladies at Elite Fashion Swimwear! There are so many lovely options; how can we whittle down our must-haves below ten or twenty suits? In order to create a list of a practical length, we look first at what’s flattering. We all know which areas of our bodies we like to hide or enhance, so that helps narrow options quite a bit. We also know which colors we love, and what our current swimwear collection is lacking or overrun with. But another important thing to consider, particularly for vacationing purposes, is what you’ll be wearing the suit for!

Here’s some simple questions to ask yourself when choosing designer swimwear for your trip…

  • Will there be lazy lounge time? If your trip will be packed with plenty of hours for laying about on the beach, poolside, or floating atop a raft, think of what you’ll be most comfortable wearing in front of others. Also consider the possibility of tan lines, and whether you’ll mind if they’re a bit weird! If you’re comfortable wearing just about anything no matter the crowd, and tan lines aren’t an issue, the swimwear world is your oyster! Pick what you like best, and pack it up for an adventure.

  • Will you be playing sports, running, or battling waves? Many tropical vacations have an action-packed itinerary full of everything from waterskiing to sailing through the sky on a zip-line. If your watery adventures will be more rigorous and rebellious than simply remembering to turn while tanning, you’ll want to be sure the swimsuit you choose is up to the challenge. One piece bathing suits may be your best bet, keeping you looking pretty and practical.

  • Will there be reconnecting and romance? Many of us take vacations to slip away from the stresses of our everyday lives and invest some much-needed energy into our relationship. Work, kids, and ever-expanding ‘to do’ lists can leave us sliding into slumber with barely a goodnight kiss. Nurturing romance is a must for a happy partnership, and once you’re miles away from the TV, computer, and the neighbor’s barking dogs, appreciating one another anew can be easy and awesome! If your trip will have some time for togetherness, consider adding some sexy swimsuits your partner will love. Think of their favorite colors and favorite curves, and consider them when making a selection. Also consider what makes you feel your sexiest, most confident best, as that will shine through when you slip into a new swimsuit or bikini!

We hope this helps you discover the best designer swimwear for your soon-to-be-escape, and we hope even harder that it’s as fun and refreshing as possible!

Seafolly Goddess BandeauSeafolly Goddess Twist Hipster Bottoms

If you’ve been happily rockin’ the colorblocking trend since it hit last year, or it’s been a favorite way to make a bold, bright impact as long as you can remember, there’s no need to leave the powerful pops of complementary hues behind when you hit the pool or beach. With seriously saturated shades of coral, green, blue and beyond in our designer collection of mix ‘n match bikinis, you can be sure onlookers will be blocking out some time in their schedule to admire you!

Not sure what colorblocking is, or just not sure how to do it right? Simply put, colorblocking in fashion involves taking two or more boldly-colored garments or accessories and wearing them together for a crisp, bright impact. Occasionally, you will find single garments or accessories with the colorblocking already built in, such as a bright purple purse with a Kelly Green flap. The distinction between the colors is impossible to ignore, and the lines between the two shades are typically very clean and defined. As such, you are more likely to see this trend on a structured bag than a slouchy hobo, or on a tailored party dress as opposed to a casual tee. The more clear the definition between the two pieces, the cooler and chicer it looks! As for doing it right? Luckily, it’s harder to do it wrong. Unlike many trends, colorblocking is simple. And perhaps simplest as it applies to bikinis!

L Space BandeauL Space Estella

The most important factor to consider when choosing a bikini is the style, whether you like triangle tops and hipster bottoms or bandeaus and tie-side bottoms. Once you’ve found the styles that suit you, consider the color options. Want to keep your colorblocking close to the same color family? Consider mixing this Seafolly Goddess Bandeau in magenta with these Seafolly Goddess Twist Hipster Bottoms in coral. Want a sharper contrast? Keep the magenta top, but add a Tiffany Blue L Space Estella bottom! More tied to the coral than the magenta? Keep the coral bottom, and add this beautiful L Space Bandeau in a rich Blue Iris. Oranges and blues are opposite each other on the color wheel and complement each other beautifully!
